Dr. Richard Wood
Dr. Wood is the third of six children from the small town of Price, Utah.
He studied at the University of Utah and received early admittance to the New England College of Optometry in Boston, Massachusetts. His training continued with an externship at Mt. Sinai Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland and Capital Eye Consultants of Fairfax, Virginia. Dr. Wood graduated with distinction in 2000 from the New England College of Optometry and was recognized with the award for clinical excellence. Dr. Wood began practicing optometry in Dulles, Virginia. During his time in Virginia, he and his wife (Grace) visited Gilbert, Arizona and from that visit he and Grace knew that Gilbert was the place where they wanted to raise their family.In August of 2001 Dr. Wood moved out Gilbert and began practicing with a well established firm. Dr. Wood felt that his patients would be best served in private practice and joined Dr. Williams in May of 2006. Dr. Wood enjoys spending time with his wife Grace and their three children, Alex, Addison and Aidan. He also enjoys playing golf, reading, family road trips, and music.
Dr. Lance Williams
Dr. Williams was born and raised in Gilbert/Mesa and is the oldest of six children. He studied at Arizona State University and the Southern California College of Optometry in Fullerton, CA, graduating with distinction in 2000. In optometry school he served one year as class president, and completed externships at Tucson VA Hospital, Pima Indian Medical Center, and Optometric Center of Los Angeles. He has been a member of the Arizona Optometric Association and the American Optometric Association for over 13 years. In October 2002, Dr. Williams realized his longtime goal of opening a private optometry practice in his hometown. Dr. Williams enjoys singing, sports (especially ASU and AZ Cardinal football), reading and trips to the beach or mountains with his family. He and his wife Deanne currently reside in Queen Creek with their four children: .
Whitney, our part time Billing Specialist, is the most recent addition to the Gilbert Family Eye Center Family. She enjoys interacting with patients and helping them pick out the best eyewear. Her family moved from the panhandle of Texas to Chandler in 1996. She attended Corona del Sol High School in Tempe and Rio Salado Community College. She enjoys spending time with family and friends and volunteering. Her hobbies include traveling, shoe collecting, reading, and playing volleyball.
Misti, the Optometric Technician for Dr. Williams, moved to Arizona from Pleasant Grove, Utah in February 2009. She studied at Utah Valley University. In November she wed her husband Boyd and together they enjoy spending time with their families and look forward to traveling the globe. Many of her hobbies include going to the beach to swim and surf, playing softball, soccer, and quoting movie lines as trivia for her co-workers.
Lexie was born in Mesa and lived in Queen Creek for most of her childhood. During her sophomore year at Queen Creek High, her family moved to Snowflake, Arizona where she finished high school while attending Northern Pioneer College for 3 semesters. After graduating from Snowflake High, she moved to Mesa to work and finish her Associates degree of Applied Sciences.
Emily moved to Mesa in May 2008 from Snowflake Arizona. She attended Snowflake High School and has spent her entire professional career in the optometry field. As one of our Optometric Technicians, Emily enjoys interacting with patients and taking retinal photos of eyes with the digital retinal camera. She enjoys reading, camping, and most sports (especially volleyball, basketball and softball). During the summer she enjoys going to the lake to wakeboard and cliff jump.
Larisa moved to Gilbert from Northern California in 2008 and has immensely enjoyed the family-friendly environment of Arizona. She joined the Gilbert Family Eye Center team in August of ’09. She feels the most enjoyable part of being an Optician is talking and socializing with patients and her awesome co-workers. She enjoys water skiing, reading, watching football (Go Packers!), and spending time playing with her husband and kids Scottie, Tyler, and Joelle.
As our resident contact lens technician, Priscilla helps patients with all of their contact lens needs. She graduated in 2002 from Excelsior High School. In February 2008 Priscilla and her husband Matt moved from the high desert of California and have happily settled in San Tan Valley. She enjoys out door activities, spending time with family and friends and volunteering.
